When the Days Seem Long
Alright my mommas out there who have been dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic (Ahem…that is ALL of us)…Are you going stir crazy like myself? We have literally done every art activity I can fathom.

Now that our state has lifted some of the restrictions from the COVID-19 quarantine, I feel like we are able to get back out there and reintroduce life once again to our kids. Don’t get me wrong, we aren’t back in full swing by any means, but we are able to push past some of the barriers that have held us back since COVID-19 struck. Here are some things my family has done or is planning on doing this 2020 summer season.
Summer is in full swing in our household but we are still not enjoying all we could be due to the Coronavirus quarantine. The zoo, museum, parks, and pools all have restrictions (and most aren’t even open yet) which makes it impossible to enjoy as it is intended.
know when I started teaching in my twenties, I was overwhelmed by the number of children’s books out there these days. It also overwhelmed me that some parents are on the more conservative side and wouldn’t appreciate their first, second, or third-grader reading some of the books that are out there. I certainly didn’t want to offend anyone but I also wanted to make sure that I had a collection “teacher-worthy” as I started out. I did a lot of research and was fortunate enough to get many classics that I feel should be in every teachers’ and (grand)parents’ library.
If you know me, you know I can’t stand being bored and usually go into planning mode PRONTO. I took some old fashioned ideas and gave them a little spin. Lucky for you I am excited to share my fun “Quarantine Activities” with all of you.
I’m usually not all about fads but I am all about starting traditions that I feel I would want my kids to carry on in their own family someday. I stumbled across this tradition of the Thanksgiving Thankful Tree and thought I would share.
The winter weather has FINALLY cleared, the flowers have bloomed and the days are a bit longer. What a relief! Being a momma during the winter months can seem long and tireless but being a momma in the summer when days are longer and playing is rougher can be even more trying.
I get it…
the kids are home from school for spring break, the littles are excited to have the bigger kiddos home, and chaos seems inevitable. You scurry to the arts and crafts cabinet only to sigh with disbelief that you can’t think of a single thing to “create” or a single place to go. You want to make memories during this time but also want to stay within a tight budget. Spring break can be downright nerve-wracking and can bring a lot of pressure to keep things busy and fun.
If you live where snow covers the ground in the winter months, you can start to feel a little bit stuck in house…AKA…Cabin Fever. I know for me, not being able to let the kids run and play outside because of freezing conditions is not always rainbows and butterflies. I have resorted to being creative on these days and thought maybe I would share some fun things you, too, can do with your littles when the weather seems to hold you in.
It can be so hard to make sure you are pouring into each child’s attention tank as parents. Oftentimes I find myself spending more time with one or the other or even the opposite of that, not giving either child the one-on-one time they crave. So how do you make sure you are covering your bases and making everyone feel loved like they deserve from their parents?
