I get it…

the kids are home from school for spring break, the littles are excited to have the bigger kiddos home, and chaos seems inevitable. You scurry to the arts and crafts cabinet only to sigh with disbelief that you can’t think of a single thing to “create” or a single place to go. You want to make memories during this time but also want to stay within a tight budget. Spring break can be downright nerve-wracking and can bring a lot of pressure to keep things busy and fun.

That is where I come into play. Here is a list of fun and creative things to do with your kids this Easter season that will bring fond memories along with a budget-friendly atmosphere.

  1. Have a book study “club” where everyone can read their own book and do a fun book report with it.
  2. Break out the play-doh. EVERYONE LOVES Play-Doh and I don’t care how old you are, break that bad boy out and let the kids go crazy (in a controlled environment that is).
  3. Bake cookies together.
  4. Using your cell phone, make a family movie together.
  5. Do a science experiment. One that my kids love is the following: Take a paper plate and fill the bottom with milk. Add different colors of food coloring to the milk. Take a Q-Tip and douse it with Dawn Dish Soap. Gently place the dish soap in the center of the plate and watch what happens.
  6. Go to the library and pick out some books for the book club or just go to play and read.
  7. If you have a zoo membership, head to the zoo and make it a day trip.
  8. Attend your local Art Museum.
  9. Go outside and ride bikes and play
  10. Go to your nearest park and let the kids do a nature hike
  11. Do an Easter Egg Hunt of your own in your house.
  12. Teach the kids a new skill such as sewing or how to do laundry.
  13. Play Hide-And-Go-Seek
  14. Break out the old board games and play them TOGETHER
  15. Make Forts using a table and blanket
  16. Go Fishing

These ideas may seem simple and not extravagant, but I promise you…the only thing your kids are excited about is spending time with you. They may not show it, but they feel it. Make memories and be a family…that’s what it is all about.
