Now that our state has lifted some of the restrictions from the COVID-19 quarantine, I feel like we are able to get back out there and reintroduce life once again to our kids. Don’t get me wrong, we aren’t back in full swing by any means, but we are able to push past some of the barriers that have held us back since COVID-19 struck. Here are some things my family has done or is planning on doing this 2020 summer season.

  • Tie-Dye Shirts-Ask the neighborhood kids to join in and use tie-dying kits to create some fun shirts the kids can wear when playing in the neighborhood.
  • Camp Out in the Backyard-Pitch that tent you haven’t used in a while (or have used if your an avid camper) and camp in the backyard. Roast marshmallows, make s’mores, play bags, etc.
  • Water Balloon Fights
  • Go Strawberry Picking
  • Have a Picnic at Your Favorite Park-Pack some lunch and head to the park to enjoy nature with your family.
  • Play on a Slip-and-slide
  • Do Random Acts of Kindness-Baking for your neighbors, doing yard work for the elderly, sending your friends and loved ones cards telling them how much they mean to you, write encouraging words and phrases on sidewalks, etc. The list is endless on the things you can do for others.
  • Go on a Scavenger Hunt-Birds, bugs, trees, flowers, cars, you name it and it can go on a scavenger hunt paper. First one to get a BINGO wins (and they pick the dessert for the evening).
  • Paint Rocks and Place them around your town-People LOVE finding painted rocks…and they are fun to make.
  • Bike Riding as a Family
