This little 3.5 year old has been on quite the journey…and taken my husband and I on quite the journey as well. 💗

From an EXTREMELY young age (like 3 months) I knew Delise was unique and different from the “norm” (whatever the heck that means 🤷🏻‍♀️). Little did I know that she would transform my heart 💗 and help me to embrace her way of thinking, seeing the world, and loving life.

It took about 3 years for the two of us to truly “get” one another. I’m not speaking about loving one another…that came naturally for me as she is my precious gift from God. No, It was just, well…where I saw black and white, she sees a thousand different shades of gray. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤪 She is different…in the most beautiful way.

Delise will question me on every aspect of life, theory, idea, thought, etc. Her ability to see life from a completely different perspective has allowed me to do the same and it has truly challenged me to “think outside the box.”

For instance, when teaching her how to mix two primary colors to get a secondary color with paints, she sat for a moment, grabbed a yellow crayon and began swirling it in the red paint…testing a theory that the crayon would turn orange. When that didn’t happen, she came to her own conclusion that crayons don’t mix well with paint and should remain separate. 🤔

My own conclusion on this smart, vibrant, energetic, precious, loves life to the absolute fullest little girl is that she can’t and won’t be placed into a box with 4 corners…because she was never meant to think inside that type of box. She was meant for much bigger thinking than 2+2=4…she lives each and every day being herself…and it is BEAUTIFUL (and difficult at times😳)! I’m still learning from her and I love that God gave me her…she is limitless!

And yes, she painted her own face today at the zoo…if you are wondering, she is a tiger! 🤷🏻‍♀️🐯

My overall conclusion I quickly learned is that it isn’t about the destination…it’s more about the journey and how we get to the destination. I have learned to encourage those going through similar circumstances to embrace the messy, look forward to the imperfect, ride the bumps and hold on when life turns…because the journey is unlike any journey you have been on and it is worth every moment.
