It’s that time of year when the dead of winter has FINALLY lifted and spring is in the air. The kids can go outside and play a bit more and crafting is at its finest. I get it, having ideas from other people is MUCH easier than coming up with something on your own. So many times I am glued to Pinterest trying to fill time slots throughout the day. I tend to plan things out for the week and decided that I would share these ideas I found and also came up with to celebrate the Easter holiday.

  1. Cardboard and Plastic Easter Eggs-Grab some toilet paper and paper towel rolls and some plastic Easter eggs, throw them in a bin and have your kids create buildings, sculptures, balancing acts, etc. with the materials.
  2. Scrambled EggsThis is a partner game that uses a paper bag and plastic Easter eggs. Prior to playing, ask a volunteer to prepare your paper bags.  You’ll need one paper bag filled with mixed-up eggs for each pair of children.  On “GO,” the partners have to work together to take the mixed-up, or scrambled, eggs out of their paper bag and fix them by putting matching tops and bottoms back together.  The catch?  They can each only use one of their hands during this minute… the hand they DON’T write with. They have to keep their writing-hand behind their back during the game, working together to take the eggs out, pull them apart, and snap them back together correctly.  At the end of one minute, the pair with the greatest number of matching eggs is the winner.
    Options:
    • Allow younger children to use their dominant hand or both hands. For just one child, have them put the eggs together as a matching activity.
  3. Painting with Plastic Eggs- Take a storage bin, some butcher paper, and some tempera paints. Place the butcher paper in the bottom of the bin, drizzle some paint of various colors in the bottom, and then throw 2-3 plastic eggs in there. Have your child roll the egg around in the bin. Let dry and cut into an egg or flower shape to display on the fridge for the holiday season.
  4. Easter Egg Towers- Take 50 plastic Easter eggs and separate them all. Have your child see how hight they can make an egg tower. Have them compete with their sibling or friend to see who has the highest tower.
  5. Easter Egg Bath-Throw all of those plastic eggs you have collected over the years into the bathtub for a sensory experience like no other. Add some bubbles and hidden toys in the eggs and watch the creativity unfold right before your very eyes.
  6. Peeps Science Experiment- Buy some Peeps and place one Peep in 3 different bowls. In one bowl, add water on top of the Peep, in another bowl add Vinegar, and in the third add soda. Record your observations throughout the day and how each substance affects the Peep.
  7. Design a Peep House-Using toothpicks and jelly beans, create a structure that could house your Peeps.
  8. Easter Sensory Bin- Colored coconut flakes, plastic Easter eggs, and jelly beans in a bin. Throw some spoons, measuring cups, etc. in there and watch the creativity unfold.
  9. Rice Shaker Easter Eggs- Throw some rice in a plastic egg, tape the seam and hand the shaker off to your toddler who will LOVE this new musical instrument.
  10. The Egg Scoop-Using plastic eggs, a wire whisk or noodle spoon, have your child transfer a plastic egg from one bin to another using only the spoon provided.

Well there you have it…a complete list of our activities this Easter season. Enjoy and do me a favor, shoot me a comment below if you decide to try some of these activities out.
