Hey there, mamas! Welcome back to my cozy corner of the internet, where we’re all about cherishing the real, messy, and oh-so-beautiful moments of motherhood. I’m just a mom stumbling through this wild journey, sharing stories, tips, and a whole lot of heart. Grab your pumpkin spice latte (or hot cider!), and let’s dive into today’s post all about fall fun outdoors!

Falling in Love with Autumn
Oh, mamas, can we just pause and soak in the glory of autumn? The crisp air, the leaves turning into a fiery masterpiece, and that perfect excuse to bundle up in cozy scarves—it’s like nature’s giving us a big, warm hug. With my three petite and precious whirlwinds, I’ve been craving ways to get us all outside to make the most of this magical season. Last weekend, we went on a “leaf hunt” in our backyard, and let me tell you, watching them stuff her pockets with crunchy leaves was pure joy. It reminded me how much our kiddos (and us mamas!) need these outdoor moments to recharge. So, today, I’m sharing three simple, heart-filling outdoor activities to make your autumn unforgettable. These are perfect for busy moms who want to create memories without a ton of prep—because who has time for that?

3 Outdoor Autumn Adventures for You and Your Littles

  1. Nature Scavenger Hunt
Turn a walk into an adventure with a fall-themed scavenger hunt! Grab a basket or a little bag and make a list of treasures to find: a red leaf, an acorn, a pinecone, or a stick shaped like a letter. My girls love checking things off their list (I just draw simple pictures since she’s not reading yet), and it keeps her engaged for ages. Pro tip: Bring a thermos of hot cocoa to sip while you explore—it’s a game-changer! Not sure where to start? Your backyard, a local park, or even a nature trail works. The goal is to let your kids lead the way and marvel at their wonder.
  2. Pumpkin Patch Playdate
Is there anything more quintessentially fall than a pumpkin patch? Pack up the kids, invite a mom friend (because we all need our tribe!), and head to your local patch. Let the littles climb hay bales, navigate a corn maze, or pick out the perfect pumpkin to decorate later. Last year, we picked the wonkiest pumpkin and named it “Mr. Wiggles”…it’s still a family legend! Bonus: Snap some photos for those holiday cards (no pressure for perfection, just capture the chaos). Check your local farm’s website for extras like hayrides or apple picking to make it a full day of fun.
  3. Backyard Leaf Art Party
No need to go far for this one! Gather a pile of colorful leaves from your yard or a nearby park, grab some washable paints, and let your kids go wild creating leaf art. Press leaves into paint and stamp them on paper for a masterpiece, or glue them into fun shapes like animals or faces. We love crinkling the leaves in our hands (supervised, of course!). Set up a blanket outside with some snacks, put on a fall playlist, and you’ve got a low-effort, high-joy afternoon. Bonus: It’s mess outside, so no cleanup stress!
