Healthy Snacks That Will Make Your Child’s Mouth Water

As a parent, I am continuously managing what is going into my children’s mouths. As toddlers, it is inedible objects and the fear of choking. As they grow a bit older, it becomes sugar, candy and sweets galore. I am very health conscious and try to teach my kids the importance of feeding our bodies right but I am also aware that they are kids and want to splurge a bit at times (like us all right?). So how do you, as a parent, find a balance? I have spent HOURS creating a repertoire of recipes my kids will enjoy and feel like they are getting their “sweets” fix…minus the bad sweets. The list of recipes goes from the most popular in my household to the least popular but still tolerable. LOL

New Year, New Start

I know for me and my household, we love starting fresh for the New Year. New goals, new attitude and the excitement of what the new year will bring. Sometimes, the start of a new year means the beginning of new healthy habits…such as setting BIG goals or healthier eating and exercising. This year, having a new baby in the house and having fallen off of the bandwagon with healthy eating, I want to incorporate a “clean eating” habit into our new year goals. This means eliminating anything processed such as lunch meats, cheeses, chips, etc. Instead, my plan is to make all of those things from scratch. Sounds awful and time consuming right?!? —————–>>>>>>>>>WRONG!

Meal Prepping to Satisfy Young Kids

Being such a health and fitness geek, I get asked all the time if I make 2 meals every night for dinner. My answer is always No. My kids are expected to eat the same food I prepare for my husband and me. I do make adjustments such as adding Garlic Expressions salad dressing to Couscous to make it more flavorful, Ranch dressing on their baked chicken, etc. Although they eat the same dinner, it is easy to make some adjustments to their diet for breakfast and lunch.
