Well…I don’t know about you, but my Mother’s Day started out with quite a BANG! Delise, my 20 month old, woke up with a high temperature that immediately made me go into panic mode. She was sick and I was supposed to teach the Kids’ Ministry at church this morning…Ahhh…I was perplexed. I obviously couldn’t expose her to other little ones…What to do? I had a 45 minute drive and time was ticking…

I did what any other desperate mommy would do…I called MY MOMMY! Haha…

Poor feverish baby girl! Poor feverish baby girl!

She happily watched Delise while I headed up to A2 to fulfill my duties in the kids’ ministry. I truly felt that Delise wasn’t feeling well due to molars breaking their way through her tender little gums (which ended up not being the case…BAD mommy moment #10,000 in the books). I dropped her off and Annora and I headed up to NorthRock Church. The moment Delise left the car, Annora immediately started begging me to turn on the one thing I would NOT want to listen to…Christmas music! I don’t know about you, but I can only listen to Christmas music during the holiday season. I immediately turned something other than that on (thinking she would start singing what I put on) and she went into sad, begging, and then SOBBING mode within seconds.

“OH, ALL RIGHT!” (Sometimes the battle isn’t worth fighting)

So…we jammed to “Jingle Bells,” “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Jingle Bell Rock” to name just a few. Mother’s Day was off to the most PERFECT start!

Our Christmas song extravaganza!

Truthfully it made me smile today…life is messy, complicated and sometimes just plain crazy…but it is also beautiful, elegant and just plain AmAziNg! Was it the perfect Mother’s Day, NO! But…I must say I am so grateful for my imperfect life and crazy happenings. The fact that I get to celebrate Mother’s Day is a blessing in itself and that’s something I don’t want to forget or take lightly.

I hope every mommy out there had a beautiful Mother’s Day just as I did…perfectly imperfect!
